Srinagar, May 8 – In response to the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir, authorities have announced that schools and colleges in several districts will remain closed on Thursday, May 9.

According to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, all educational institutions near Srinagar Airport were closed on Wednesday and will remain shut tomorrow as well. He added that institutions in Baramulla, Kupwara, and the Gurez Valley will also stay closed on Thursday as a precautionary measure.

Similarly, the Jammu administration has declared the closure of all schools and colleges—both government and private—in the districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, and Poonch.

“In view of the prevailing situation, all schools, colleges, and educational institutions in these districts will remain closed tomorrow,” said Divisional Commissioner Jammu.

In addition to school closures, universities have also taken precautionary steps. The University of Kashmir (KU) has postponed all its scheduled examinations up to and including May 10. The Assistant Controller of Exams at KU confirmed that fresh dates will be announced later.

Cluster University Srinagar has also postponed its May 7 exams, and revised schedules will be shared separately.

Students and parents are advised to stay updated through official channels for further announcements.
