Schools in Kupwara, Baramulla, Gurez to Remain Closed on May 9–10 Amid Security Concerns: Srinagar, May 8 (JK Students Desk) – In light of the current security situation, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has announced a two-day closure of schools in several areas of the Valley.
According to an official statement by Director School Education Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Ittoo, all government and private schools in Kupwara, Baramulla, Gurez Sub-Division, and those located near Srinagar and Awantipora airports will remain closed on May 9 and 10, 2025.
The decision, he said, has been taken purely as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of students, teaching staff, and school authorities.
While no specific threat has been officially disclosed, the closure comes amid heightened security arrangements in the region. Authorities have urged parents, students, and educational institutions to cooperate and follow official advisories.
