Schools in Border Areas of J&K to Remain Closed on May Today; Exams Postponed in Universities: Srinagar, May 13 (JK Students Desk): In a fresh advisory, the Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department has announced that all schools in border areas of the region will remain closed on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, as a precautionary measure. This comes after the reopening of educational institutions in non-border districts earlier this week.
According to the Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), all government and private schools in Zone Gurez of Bandipora district will remain closed on May 14. However, teachers are expected to resume their duties. Schools in other zones of Bandipora will function as usual.
In Kupwara district, schools will reopen on Wednesday, except in Karnah sub-division, Keran, Machil, Budnambal, Jumagand, and Kumkadi areas where classwork will remain suspended.
For Baramulla district, schools in Zone Uri, Jhulla, Chandanwari, and Boniyar (falling under Sub-Division Uri) will remain closed. All other schools in Baramulla district will open as per schedule.
University of Kashmir Postpones All Exams Till May 18, 2025
Jammu Division Update
In Jammu division, all schools in Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, and Samba districts will also remain closed on May 14, 2025.
However, schools in Udhampur district, and in Bani, Basholi, Mahanpur, Bhaddu, Malhar, and Billawar zones of Kathua district, will remain open.
University Exams Postponed
Meanwhile, the University of Kashmir (KU) has announced that all examinations scheduled up to May 18 have been postponed in light of the current situation.
The Central University of Kashmir (CUK) has also postponed all exams up to May 16, and online classes will continue until further notice.
