NEET UG 2023 Counselling: What’s next?

After the declaration of the results, the students can upload the documents on MCC portal latest by July 30, 2023. The candidates will have to report or join the allotted college between July 31 and August 4, 2023. The verification of the joined candidates’ data by institute sharing of data by MCC from August 5 to 6. 

Candidates also will have the opportunity to upgrade their choices in round 2 are advised to physically report to their allotted college and they will also have the the option to choose to upgrade in Round 3. The registration window for round 2 will be opened from August 8 to August 14. The payment facility will be available on August 14. The candidates will be able to fill up their choices between August 10 and 15 till 11.55 PM. Candidates who will be selected for the second round will get the opportunity to report to their allotted insititute latest by August 18.

The registration process for NEET UG 2023 counselling began on 20 July and the last date for Round 1 counselling was July 25. Eligible candidates who have successfully cleared the NEET UG examination are qualified to appear for the counselling round.

The result of the NEET UG 2023 exam was declared in June this year. A total of 2,087,462 candidates registered for NEET UG this year, out of which 2,038,596 appeared for the medical entrance test.

The NEET UG 2023 Counseling will take place in four rounds: round 1, round 2, mop-up round, and stray vacancy round. The first round began on July 20 and the final round will end on September 30.The registration period for the second seat allotment list will take place between August 9 and 14, with the results being announced on August 18. Candidates who applied to upgrade their institute in Round 2 are urged to physically report to their designated college, and they will also have the chance to upgrade in Round 3. The third list will be published on September 8.

For general category students, a candidate must score in the 50th percentile, while SC/ST/OBC applicants must score in the 40th percentile. The NEET 2023 was held on May 7 and the results were released on June 13. A total of 20.38 lakh applicants enrolled for the NEET 2023, with 11.45 lakh students passing the exam.

The NEET UG counseling for undergraduate medical admissions, especially for the 15 per cent all-India quota MBBS and BDS seats, is handled by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). AMU, BHU, AIIMS, and JIPMER are just a few of the notable institutions that will be bound to the MCC’s counseling programme.

Prabhanjan J from Tamil Nadu and Bora Varun Chakravarthi from Andhra Pradesh secured the top positions in the medical entrance examination, both scoring a perfect 720 out of 720.

The medical seats in India are divided into categories — Central and state — in the 15-85 share. The states, conducting NEET counseling on their own, and Medical Counseling Committee (MCC), are responsible for holding NEET UG counseling for all India quota MBBS and BDS seats. For NEET UG 2023, the counseling process is divided into four rounds including rounder 1, round 2, mop up, and stray vacancy round. Candidates seeking admission to 99,313 MBBS, 27,698 BDS, 52,720 AYUSH, and 603 BVSc & AH seats, and 542 and 313 seats respectively in medical and dental colleges can apply for the counseling.

NEET is a national-level examination used for admission into various medical, veterinary, AYUSH, BSc Nursing, and Life Sciences courses.
