J&K Government Reschedules Shab-i-Qadr Holiday to March 28, 2025
J&K Government Reschedules Shab-i-Qadr Holiday to March 28, 2025: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has announced a change in the date for the holiday on account of Shab-i-Qadr. Originally scheduled for March 27, 2025 (Thursday), the holiday will now be observed on March 28, 2025 (Friday) across the Union Territory.
This decision was issued through Government Order No. 412-JK(GAD) of 2025, dated March 26, 2025. The modification was made to align with the religious significance of the occasion, ensuring that people can observe the night of prayers and blessings accordingly.
Shab-i-Qadr, also known as the Night of Power, is one of the holiest nights in Islam, observed during the last ten days of Ramadan. It is believed to be the night when the first verses of the Quran were revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Muslims spend this night in deep prayer, supplication, and reflection.
With the rescheduling of the holiday, government offices, institutions, and organizations in Jammu and Kashmir will now remain closed on Friday, March 28, 2025, instead of Thursday.
