Anantnag, Jul 10 (KNO): Government Middle School Arwani in the Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district has only four rooms for around 200 students.
The locals while talking to the news agency-Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said the school was established in 2005 and was upgraded to a middle school in 2009; however, it has been facing a space crunch since its establishment.
They said the school has just five rooms including the office for around 200 students of nine classes.
Mudasir Ahmed, a local, said the government focuses more on showcasing achievements in the education sector but there is very little development visible on the ground level. “Although the staff members are doing their best to provide quality education to the enrolled students, the dearth of basic facilities has got them concerned, having no answers to the anguish of the students,” he said.
Compared to other government schools, the school has a good number of students enrolled which makes it imperative for the concerned authorities to take immediate steps in order to provide them with quality facilities, Mudasir said.
All students studying here belong to financially weak families, so authorities must take immediate steps to ensure quality education for them, he added.
The locals said they have in the past apprised the concerned authorities about the issue several times but nothing has been done so far.
The students said their education is getting affected when two classes are being taught in a single room simultaneously.
Chief Education Officer Anantnag Kamal Kishore said he will look into the matter and take all possible steps for the welfare of students-(KNO)
